Cabernet Sauvignon is slow to ripen and needs an exceptionally good year to produce an exceptionally good wine. Fortunately, this was the case in 2013. We ferment this wine at much lower temperatures than is usual with hot climate cabernets and blend just enough Old Vines Merlot, malbec and cabernet franc to round out this sumptuous wine. The 2013 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon is lush and smooth across the palate with flavors of tangy red currant, rich black cherry and creamy raspberry. Definitely a wine that will continue to get richer in the cellar over the next 15 – 20 years.

2010 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon REVIEW
The Wine Advocate — Mark Squires — 20 June 2017
Rated: 92
Drink: 2017 – 2033
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines was aged in neutral French oak. This is gorgeous. Refined, precise and sophisticated, this has an Old World feel (as always, excuse the stereotype; you know what I mean). If it said “Bordeaux” on the label, many more would no doubt be impressed. The mid-palate finesse is remarkable. It has a crisp underlying edge and a hint of earth. Finishing with a complex medley of flavors, earth, truffle and red fruit, this then puts the cherry on top with a long, lingering finish. It’s a beauty, from start to finish. It should continue to age very well, but it is certainly drinking nicely now.
